Emmaline Boutique has always been one of my favorite stores in the Franklin/Nashville area. Every time I walk in the door I see several gorgeous pieces of clothing calling my name. Last week I went to visit the new location at 400 Main Street and I immediately fell in love with how open and welcoming the store is. Attention was paid to each detail of the new layout. The sunlight kisses every inch of the store and being there left me with a feeling of peace and serenity. It was the most relaxing shopping trip I’ve had in years. Also, the new Emmaline is a bit larger than before so they’re able to carry even more brands that I adore.

My favorite dress in the store has to be this Diane Von Furstenberg dress. It’s PERFECT. You could dress this look up with heels and a fur or dress it down with boots and a leather jacket. The styling possibilities are endless.

nD Festival Fashion Show and Auction for Belcourt

Not all experiences are created equal. But last Sunday evening I got a thrill big enough to last me a long time. I was really honored to be a model participant in the nD Festival fashion show and auction benefiting the historic Belcourt Theater. The Belcourt is a local treasure here in Nashville, TN. Not only does the Belcourt have the best foreign, independent and classic films, great musical performances and cutting-edge live theater, they also host unique children’s programs. They use films to help young people gain valuable visual literacy. Priceless.

All of the models involved were local men and women who are helping to shape what the current city of Nashville looks and feels like. There were business men and women, restaurant owners, philanthropists, stylists, teachers, make-up artists, professors and professionals, and whatever category you use to describe me. I adored the way Cindy Wall, Marcia Masulla and many others worked together to successfully redefine the way we do fashion shows. Bravo!

I have been meaning to adapt the all white look into my wardrobe rotation for 2 years now. It hasn’t happened yet but I REALLY hope this Spring is going to be my all white moment. The runways were exploding with this trend. It’s almost like this spring 2013 fashion trend is going to get bigger and bigger until designers force it into actual street fashion. I feel like stylish people everywhere have been a little slow with adding this trend into their repertoire.

Labor Day is just around the corner, which means, sadly, that summer is coming to an end. I am sad to see the bathing suits and shorts go, but I am happy to be saying hello to an exciting new fall season for fashion. If you haven’t already stuffed your closet with the latest fall pieces, take a look at my picks for Fall 2012 to know exactly what to look for when you hit the store racks.

HOT COLORS: Make sure your closet includes colors like burgundy, gold, white (yes, white!), and some black and blue combinations. My favorite has to be the rich Cabernet wine colors, which I think look good on almost anybody.

All Most Famous Hangs Out at the Nashville Flea Market

So I went to the flea market last weekend. Was it a success? Well, no. It was kind of a bummer really. I was sandwiched in the back middle row with all the $4 “antiques.” Finding our booth was…difficult. But let me tell you what, it was SO much fun.

The women next to our booth was Peggy and she was epic. I didn’t get a chance to work out during the 3 days of the flea market but it didn’t matter. I burned the same amount of calories as running solely by laughing. She had me in tears basically the whole weekend. She’s like, pee-your-pants funny.

Even though it was tough to find us, we had a bunch of friends stop by and brighten our day and we made some amazing new friends as well!

RAW Nashville: MIXOLOGY

I had the opportunity to attend a very cool and unique event last Saturday. RAW: Natural Born Artists presented their 2012 season’s fourth showcase at Mercy Lounge in Nashville. Being my first time at the event, I didn’t know what to expect, but I liked what I was hearing about it. RAW’s main mission is to hand-select and spotlight independent creatives in visual art, film, fashion, music, hair and makeup artistry, photography, models and performing art.

And the night did all of these artists justice. The event was fun and the vibe was good. What I had almost forgotten when I got there was that RAW decided that the theme for the night was pin-up girls and greaser boys, so I started seeing lots of red lipstick and leather jackets. Good stuff. I got some good shots of the performances and the fashion shows, but even more of all the fashionable people attending the event. Hope you all enjoy!

Men’s Summer Style Guide

It is HOT out! And it doesn’t look like it’s cooling down any time soon. Summer is heating up and so are all of the styles and trends. Let’s talk about all the wonderful men’s summer trends we are seeing lately. Read on for some that I am seeing and loving.

Color is making a serious comeback. Bright colors for guys is a must this summer and is very fun and young. Try a colbat blue suit or a bright colored pant – yellow seems to be the hot color this season.

Try some bright colored bracelets to add more color or a touch of color to an otherwise neutral outfit. I like Scott Osterbind’s friendship bracelets. Very cool.

And boat shoes are a necessity this summer. If I were a guy, I would try these orange ones with laces.

The Northeast look (how I like to describe it) and nautical style is also a good choice for the summer. I like how this look adds that pop of color in the pants. Not too serious, but not juvenile.

Guys – you can’t go the summer without a light suit or jacket- white or tan works. You can use these for more formal events like a summer wedding. Or you can mix up the pieces and wear jeans or chinos for bottoms, a bright colored shirt and the white or tan jacket over that for a more casual dinner or night out. Just make sure that is a lighter fabric and feel.

Make sure to have plenty of graphic tees and tanks in your closet for the rest of the summer. Throw a more lightweight leather jacket over it and you have yourself a fun summer outfit.
